In my opinion, there are 2 types of high-end fashion.
The first is one that enhances and compliments the wearer of the garment.
It adds to their personality.
It accentuates their good qualities.
Shoulders on a man.
Hips on a woman.
This could be a suit on a man or a dress on a woman.
The second type is fashion so complicated it becomes an art piece.
Think of Balenciaga making towels as skirts for women.
Or it could be a design so packed with details it pulls attention away from the wearer.
In other words, you're not wearing the garment.
The garment is wearing you.
It does not compliment your personality.
It creates your personality.
It may make you seem like a flamboyant type.
But a bold color could create the same effect.
I appreciate both forms of fashion.
But the first one I wear.
The second one sits on a shelf in my closet.
