Spoiler alert; Clickbait title.
But it got you here.
And now you are reading this.
Because you want a Ferrari.
My question is; Why?
Why do you want a Ferrari?
Because of status, or a desire for amazing design and engineering feats achieved by people?
I'm not judging.
But in this article you will learn to get anything you want in life.
Yes, anything.
How To Get Anything You Want
First, visualise yourself having already achieved whatever it is that you want.
- Who are you?
- What have you become?
- What skills do you possess?
- How do you act?
If you think negatively you will attract more negativity in your life.
Cultivate an alter ego that thinks positively and does not believe it can fail.
Make friends with this alter ego and allow it to help you whenever you encounter failures.
Imagination is the most powerful thing humans have.
I would argue it is what makes us human.
The ability to imagine a world that does not yet exist.
Some say feelings makes us human.
But a monkey can get angry, happy or depressed too.
Does that make them human?
You Are Your Thoughts
Everything starts with our thoughts.
Like the old saying goes;
You are what you eat.
Likewise, you are what you think.
If you think about failures you will encounter failures.
If you think about success you will encounter success.
Think about it.
Don't Overthink
You may think about every possible scenario (which will not be possible in your lifetime).
But you will be caught in analysis-paralysis (unable to act).
You will never start.
Simply do not acknowledge things can go wrong.
This may seem reckless to the average person.
But the word average is included in that sentence.
People may call this delusional, however, there is a clear distinction;
Being delusional is denying reality.
You are not denying reality, because what you imagine does not yet exist.
Instead, you are simply denying a negative future by not allowing negative thoughts into your mind.
Your imagination is what creates the future, and you have the right to imagine it how you want it.
It is not being delusional, it is being idealistic.
The definition of idealistic is; Aiming for perfection.
Flaws are not included in perfection.
And there is nothing wrong with having ideals.
But don’t measure yourself against ideals.
They are flawless.
Humans are not.
How To Measure The Right Way
Let ideals guide you, but only measure yourself against the past you.
How do you measure against the past you?
Let’s start with this question; What made you grow this week?
We grow all the time.
You cannot breathe and not grow in some respect.
You take in new information every day which allows you to grow.
Write down the positive things that made you grow a little.
Nothing is too benign.
To be in it for the long run, you need fuel.
Just like a car needs to refuel for long trips, so do you.
Positivity and gratefulness is fuel.
It makes you feel good about yourself, and makes you more confident.
Sure, some people can achieve greatness by ignoring this principle and work insane hours.
But they view this “grinding” as necessary self-punishment which you must do to get what you want.
They may succeed.
But they are probably the miserable rich person.
Who hates themselves and feels no amount of money or achievement can ever make them happy.
Of course, they got what they wanted by “punishing” themselves.
Punishing yourself means you hate yourself.
Not a great behaviour to pick up.
You Attract What You Believe
Simply put, you attract what you believe of yourself.
If you truly believe you deserve respect, you will act with more dignity.
Like walking with a straight back, speaking clearly and being polite to people.
In turn, people will treat you with more respect.
That is, the new people you meet.
Go travel and try to act like your ideal.
You will be shocked at how people who meet you for the first time starts treating you.
People you know will have a defined version of you in their mind.
And will continuously treat you according to that model.
It will take a long time for them to adjust.
Some might even never adjust.
"You've changed."
A phrase that is commonly used negatively in movies.
But it's not negative, it's positive.
You cannot grow without changing.
If those around you do not want you to change, they do not want you to grow.
Oppositely of previous example, if you believe you are worthless, you look sad, you mumble and hunch.
In turn, people will see you as worthless and treat you like that.
I Need A Hero
Forget about a person rescuing you.
You are your own saviour.
And if you are reading this, you are on your path towards being your best self.
It is true that there are mother Theresas in the world who will try and help people who lack confidence, but they are the exception, not the rule.
How many mother Theresas do you know except mother Theresa?
In stories, you may see the hero as a wounded depressed person being rescued by someone who sees what’s really in them.
Someone who sees them for they could be.
But this is reality, and to be clear; Reality is harsh.
Back to what was said about being delusional; It is denying reality.
Don't deny reality.
Work with it.
Be your own hero.
Don't Gamble With Your Future
Do not allow things to chance.
Once you have analysed and know how the person you want to become acts; Start acting like them.
Do this for long enough, and you will receive what you want.
Think about it; you want to be fit and toned.
What would a fit and toned person be doing daily?
Eating well and exercising.
Do this for a month and you will see progress.
Maybe in just a few weeks.
If you did it for 3 months, you would most likely be 80% of the way towards your goal (depending on your fitness of course).
Do this for a year and you will look exceptional.
The same for everything else.
Go to a quiet place and write down;
- What you desire
- What you're currently doing that works against this
- What you need to do to work towards this
- A deadline
That's it.
Finish by visualising having already achieved the goal.
A powerful phrase I once heard is; "Don't become a millionaire to become a millionaire. Do it because of what it will make of you."
The more grandiose the goal, the bigger a person you will have to become.
And the more clear it is in your imagination, the easier it will be to achieve.
Make your statement physical on a piece of paper and place it somewhere where you will see it morning and night every day.
Memorise it closely and it will manifest in your subconscious mind.
This will allow you to see opportunities where you did not see them before.
To connect the dots.
Coal was a boring rock until someone made it into a source of energy.
An opportunity nobody saw before.
At first you may believe this to be silly and stupid, but skepticism is normal for all people.
Stick to this for long enough and it will become belief.
Again, just like working out, the first few weeks seem pointless.
But as you gradually lift more weight and start to notice clothes fit tighter or loser, you start believing.
By doing this, suddenly you will start to accumulate ideas and hunches on ways to help you achieve this goal and everything you see and learn will be linked to how it can help you achieve this goal.
It will seem like the stars are starting to align and that the universe is helping you, when in reality it may be your subconscious mind working hard to put everything together to align with achieving the goal.
Where 99% Of People Fail
"I tried it but it didn't work."
Patience.
This is where 99% of people fall short.
Nothing worthwhile works in a few weeks.
On average it takes about 6 months to spark change.
Be patient.
What you do today and who you are today will not unfold truly before 6 months from now.
What you have today is because of who you were 6 months ago.
It is important to remember this.
Knowledge Is Power
Actually that's wrong, knowledge alone is not power.
Knowledge directed into action and strategy is power.
Learn what you need to learn in order to accomplish your goal and discard random knowledge, however useful it may seem.
If the knowledge does not apply to your immediate step towards reaching your goal it does not matter to achieving your goal.
If you want to start a clothing company, learning about what makes a clothing company successful aligns with your goal.
Learning about mastering money does not.
If you are focused on money (or a Ferrari), ask yourself;
Are you doing it because of your own reasons, or because of what society wants from you?
Society wants you to make money.
Because society gives you money for providing value.
And they give you less money than the value you provide (therefore you have to become more valuable than what you expect in return).
Society is made up of humans and humans are inherently selfish.
Therefore, they want more value.
When seeking knowledge to get what you want, be extremely focused.
Old practical books are best.
Most new books are written by people promoting themselves, or making money by sharing worse versions of old books.
You can also learn a lot by analysing the habits of high achievers in their biographies.
In the knowledge you seek, ask yourself if it aligns with your goal.
You can be wise and unsuccessful just as you can be unwise determined, focused and successful.
Most importantly, be in it for the long haul.
The biggest rewards in life come from compounding.
What is compounding?
A small snowball rolling down a hill becomes a giant boulder by the end.
That's compounding.
Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare;
The hare got distracted, but the tortoise did not, and the tortoise won.
See you in the next one.
